Bio, Pictures  & Praise

Thomas Wolfe once said, "If a man has talent and cannot use it, he has failed.  If he has talent and uses only half of it, he has partly failed.  If he has a talent and learns somehow to use the whole of it, he has gloriously succeeded and won a satisfaction and triumph few men ever know."

In his lifetime, Dr. Eric J. Chambers has been gifted with many talents and has tasted that triumph Thomas Wolfe spoke about. The 9-time Emmy and Golden Mike Award winner formerly of CBS in Hollywood, has had a fantastic career, and it's still going strong.

His journalism career began in 1976 as a 13-year-old sports writer for his hometown Slidell (La.) Daily Sentry News earning $3 per article covering little league baseball. And his professional TV career began in 1986 as a messenger in the mailroom at KGTV10 (ABC) in San Diego, where he also became a part-time reporter and fill-in anchor. Since then, his career has soared!

In the Fall of 2022, Dr. Chambers is launching a new urban entertainment TV show called The CUT Chronicles. Based in Hollywood, the show will feature celebrity interviews, plus segments on health, wealth, fashion, culture, and more.

On June 14, 2003, he launched his national TV show, “The Jazzspel with Eric J.” on The Word Network, the nation’s second-largest urban TV network based in Southfield, Michigan. Available in over 86 million US homes and worldwide, the show became wildly popular. It aired nationally for nine years and had 137 episodes. It was on TV for a record 458 consecutive weeks!!!

Rick Warren, the best-selling author of all times and author of “The Purpose Driven Life,” endorsed the book. His second book is “Dining With The Ancestors: When Heroes Come To Dinner.” It is a Black History coffee table picture book. He interviewed over 400 celebrities, asking if they could dine with anyone in history, who it would be, and what the conversation would consist of. In the summer of 2022, he released two more books in his "I Want To Know You Series." They include "Mama, I Want To Know You: A Living Journal of History Still In The Making" and "Daddy, I Want To Know You: A Journal of Living History Still in The Making." In the Fall of 2022, he will release "Honey, I Want To Know You: A Journal for Couples." Each book offers prompt questions that, when answered, will provide greater insight into who people are and their history.

One of his most triumphant achievements came in the wee hours of July 17, 2013, at 2:30 am, when he received an e-mail notifying him that he was selected to receive a coveted honorary doctorate and “Celebrity of Faith Award” from Next Dimension University, an accredited Bible college in Ontario, CA. “I was completely shocked when I read that e-mail!” said Chambers. “I had to read it several times to let it sink in and ensure it said what it said! My heart was touched with compassion as I cried  to sleep knowing the Lord honored my faithfulness.” He received the doctorate degree on August 17, 2013, before a capacity crowd of nearly 2000 people in Ontario, California.

In January 1982, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving as a radioman (communications specialist) and international morse code specialist with a Top Secret security clearance. During his navy career, he traveled to Africa, Australia, Japan, Thailand, The Philippines, Korea, and Hong Kong.
