Eric J's RADIO BIO

Eric J. Chambers is host and executive producer of The Jazzspel. The wildly popular radio show debuted on Smooth Jazz 98.1 KIFM in San Diego, California on July 10, 1994 and ran 17 straight years until July 10, 2011.

The show went into national syndication from 2012 until 2017. After a 2-year hiatus, The Jazzspel 2.0 was relaunched on Smooth Jazz KIFM 98.1 HD2 on Sunday, March 29, 2020 in the midst of a national health pandemic. "Since the nation is on lockdown and can't go to church, the timing was right to bring the church to them in the form of The Jazzspel," says Chambers. The show's slogan is, "If you like jazz and gospel, you'll love The Jazzspel."

On April 10, 2020, The Jazzspel broadcast its first ever Good Friday special. The two-hour show drew listeners from all over the nation, and as far away as Sydney, Australia! It proved to be a tremendous success, especially for people who were accustomed to going to Good Friday services.

Chambers initially came to KIFM as News and Public Affairs Director on August 12, 1993 and was with the station for 18 years before it changed formats in 2011. "It's such a delight being back on the radio station where The Jazzspel was born," says the US Navy veteran. "It was divine order that the show came back home like a radio prodigal son."

Chambers also has a successful TV career which has been decorated with 9 Emmys and Golden Mike Awards for his work in Hollywood with such entities as CBS News, NBC, Big Brother, DirecTV, The Reelz Channel, The Word Network and The NFL Network to name a few.

In addition, he hosted and executive produced The Jazzspel TV show nationally on The Word Network. It ran 9 years and 137 episodes. It was available in over 86 million US homes and millions more abroad including Africa and Europe. Currently, he hosts and produces The CUT Chronicles, an urban entertainment TV show based in Hollywood. Visit TheCUTNetwork.com for more info.
